User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Great MP3 Player, Great price, GREAT BUY!
This is a great little MP3 player with impressive sound, long battery life and an easily navigated menu.

Pros:

* SMALL but still has a nice display

* Lightweight, the armband almost ways as much as it does

* GREAT sound

* Loaded with features

* Rechargeable battery with great life

* Playlists come straight in from Media Player - woohoo!

Cons:

* Menu structure could be improved

* The earphone jack should be on the other side of the player

* Display colors are not my personal favorite… (is this even a valid complaint?)

With the Sansa Clip you get awesome bang for your buck. The size is just fantastic, and the fact that it is so light weight, you can clip it to your shirt sleeve and not worry about loosing it. The sound on this is truly impressive as well.

In the Gym: this thing is a gem. I forget that it is on my arm. I would recommend getting a silicone case for it to make it stay put, the player is smooth and slick and will ‘jump’ off of the armband if it gets bumped right. I bought this and it works great:

Durable Flexible Black Silicone Skin Case + Adjustable Sports Armband For SanDisk Sansa Clip

On the Plane: it shines again. I have a pair of Sennheiser over-the-ear style studio headphones and to hear the audio through those you would think you had just plugged into a home theater system. I made if from Utah to Kuwait on one battery charge and still had about half the battery left! My only complaint on the plane would be the colors on the display - it’s bright and the colors are too ‘neon-glitz’ for me…

I’ve read on Amazon where reviewers talk about how fragile the Sansa Clip player is, and this is simply not the case. It is ‘light’, which is not synonymous with ‘cheap’ or ‘fragile’. I have dropped my player on hard surfaces several times with no problems. Remember, this is a flash memory player, not your old-school hard drive iPod…

My 2 true complaints about this player are the placement of the headphone jack and the playlist in the menu. Seems to me that most people will wear MP3 players on their left arms - sport headphones with offset chords are offset to the left side. So knowing this why Sandisk puts the audio jack on the OPPOSITE side of the player is beyond my comprehension. As far as the menu goes, it is easy to navigate, but in my opinion once you enter into the music section I think the selection for playlists should be on the first screen, not two screens down. It just adds to my scrolling more than I care for during a run…

In the end, the complaints are easily swallowed up by the positives of this player. It is not perfect, but it easily earns 5 stars considering the size, sound quality and price point.

4 Stars Pretty good for the price
First let me put out the bad. This is an MP3 player, I should have caught that the first time around. The clip does not support iTunes MPEG4s which I didn’t discovered until after I had already downloaded 15 songs from there. Luckily I downloaded a free 30 day file converter program from the web (MPEG4 to MP3)which worked great, I’m playing the songs now and consider it a lesson learned. Another negative so far is on being able to skip chapters on audiobooks. It does it but it doesn’t do it easily. Also be prepared to get new headphones if you plan to workout and listen to your tunes.

Outside of those things I’ve loved the Clip. It lasts a ridiculously long time on a charge. It is simple to load songs and navigate them. It is much smaller then I thought it was going to be. I like old time radio shows and a typical show lasts 30 minutes. I’ve loaded 20-30 episodes onto the Clip along with about 50 songs and have barely made a dent in available memory. Haven’t tried the radio yet. Overall I have been very satisfied once I got past the iTunes debacle.

4 Stars Very good player for the $
For $50 I got a 4GB mp3 player. Sound is very good as well as ability to delete songs on the player. Dropped it in a bucket of water. It stopped working. Dried it out for a few days, turned it on–nothing. Plugged it into the computer–it lit up! Works fine now! Very water resistant.

5 Stars Great for strolling or working out
I really like this MP3 player. I bought it for my runs and walks around the neighborhood. For that purpose it is perfect. Very small with a clip so it’s like it’s not even there. FM presets allow me to switch easily from NPR during my morning walk to a fast paced playlist when I’m ready to pick up the pace.

The instructions are spartan, but the menu navigation is mostly intuitive if you have any experience with these devices. The first morning I could not hear the FM radio, but a quick Google of the problem let me know that the pause “button” for MP3 is also the mute button for radio.

4 GB is plenty for my purposes (equates to about 600 songs) and you can create playlists in Media Player. I found that my playlists did not work properly in the Clip’s Music folder. I had to drag them into the Playlist folder.

The sound is excellent.

If you are buying this for your main MP3 player or for a purpose other than working out, I would go with the Fuze. The Fuze is relatively bigger and heavier, but has video and as of this writing is at the same price point as the Clip for the 4 GB size. Even so, for working out, the Clip is the way to go.

5 Stars Perfect & Affordable
This is my 2nd Sansa Clip. I absolutely love it and purchased them for my entire family. It is much smaller than most of the iPods, which I love, and it has pretty good sound quantity. Very easy to use and even my parents were able to figure it out when they have never downloaded music before. Unless you care about the brand name of iPod I think this product is just as good if not better. I highly recommend it. The only negative aspect is that there are not as many accessories for this brand. They are out there though, you just have to mainly purchase them on-line.
