Apple iPod shuffle 4 GB Silver 3rd Generation LATEST MODEL
Apple iPod shuffle 4 GB Silver 3rd Generation LATEST MODEL

The third-generation iPod shuffle is the talk of the music world. Not just because it’s incredibly small–half the size of the previous generation. And not just because it holds up to 1,000 songs and supports multiple playlists. It’s the talk of the town because it’s the only music player in the world that talks to you. The new VoiceOver feature lets iPod shuffle tell you what song is playing and who’s performing it. It also tells you the names of your playlists. With VoiceOver–and with the controls conveniently located on the earbud cord–it’s even easier to navigate your music. You can do it without taking your eyes off your run, your ride, or whatever you’re doing.

The iPod shuffle 3G: The First Music Player That Talks to You
World’s Smallest Music Player
Ultra-Compact, Ultra-Sleek
Its compact, anodized aluminum design is nearly half the size of the previous iPod shuffle and smaller than a AA battery. But don’t be fooled by its diminutive nature. It might be small on the outside, but it holds a lot on the inside. With iPod shuffle now available in 4 GB capacity, you can take up to 1,000 songs with you anywhere. And with the controls located where you can quickly access them, it’s also easier to use.
Most Wearable
The iPod shuffle comes with a brilliant stainless steel clip that lets you securely wear your music no matter where you are. Clip it to your workout gear when you’re at the gym. Clip it to your backpack or belt when you’re on the go. If you want, you can even clip it out of sight. Whether you’re walking, running, cycling, or skiing, you’ll always have your favorite songs and playlists with you.
Your Music Library to Go
Store More Music
It’s hard to believe that something so small could carry so much music. But now that the iPod shuffle has 4 GB, you have plenty of room to store up to 1,000 songs. Load up all the music you want, and hit the road for as long as you like. Slide the switch to “Shuffle,” and get ready for the most unpredictable ride of your life. Or slide the switch to “Play in Order” to hear your playlists from start to finish.
Multiple Playlists
You’ve probably made multiple playlists in iTunes. You have one for your commute, another one for the gym, and then a few more for just chilling out. Now, with the iPod shuffle 3G, you can sync them all and take them wherever you go. Up to 4 GB gives you plenty of room to hold a playlist for every occasion–which means you’ll always have the perfect mix to match your activity or mood. And with VoiceOver telling you the name of each playlist, you can easily switch between them and find the one you want. You also can have audiobooks and podcasts on your iPod shuffle. Audiobooks will be put into separate playlists automatically, and podcast episodes will be grouped together in a Podcasts playlist.

Includes Apple earbud earphones with remote and mic as well as an iPod shuffle USB cable. Click to see how controls work. |
Easy Access Controls
You’ll find controls for the new iPod shuffle in two locations. On the right earbud cord, you’ll find the controls that let you interact with your music. And on the top of the iPod shuffle, there’s a switch that lets you choose to shuffle, to play your songs in order, or to turn off your iPod shuffle.
Using the Apple Earphones with Remote
All the controls you need to interact with your music–adjusting volume, changing songs, switching playlists, and hearing song titles and artist names–are built into the Apple Earphones with Remote. You control the iPod shuffle by pressing the top, center, or bottom button on the control. This makes it easy to navigate your music and activate the VoiceOver feature, without taking your eyes off what you’re doing.
The first time you set up VoiceOver on your computer, iTunes automatically downloads and installs the VoiceOver Kit. Click to enlarge. |
Three-Way Switch
The new iPod shuffle now has a stainless steel switch with three positions that let you choose how you want to listen to your music. Slide it to the left to shuffle your songs. Slide it to the middle to play your songs in order. Or slide it to the right to turn everything off.
Also, an LED on the top of the iPod shuffle displays such things as syncing and battery status.
Introducing VoiceOver
VoiceOver is the exciting new feature that makes iPod shuffle the first music player that talks to you. It entirely changes the way you browse and navigate your music. Say you’re listening to a song and want to know the title or the artist. With the press of a button, VoiceOver tells you–without interrupting your music. But the fun doesn’t stop with songs. For the first time ever on an iPod shuffle, you can have multiple playlists, and VoiceOver announces their names, too. So you can easily find the right mix without taking your eyes off your run, your ride, or whatever you’re doing.
How It Works
A lot of work has gone into creating an iPod shuffle that not only talks, but says the right things. It all begins with iTunes and its seamless integration with iPod. iTunes reads your song information, then uses the new VoiceOver Kit to generate the announcements for the songs, artists, and playlists on your iPod shuffle. You’ll hear different voices depending on what type of computer system you use when you sync your iPod shuffle. If you sync it with a PC or with a Mac running Mac OS X Tiger, you’ll hear the English voice included in the VoiceOver Kit. And since Mac OS X Leopard already has an amazing English voice built in, that’s the one you’ll hear when you sync your iPod shuffle with a Mac running Leopard.
Multiple Languages
Your music library may have songs from all over the world–a love song from France, a bolero from Spain, a pop tune from Japan. Luckily, VoiceOver speaks in 14 languages. iTunes automatically selects the language and best voice for your song titles and artist names. It looks at song data, like the title, artist, and album information, then applies intelligent algorithms to choose the right language. For example, iTunes recognizes the song “Ya Viene el Sol” by Ozomatli as a Spanish song, so your iPod shuffle will automatically speak that song title and artist name in Spanish. If you’d prefer to hear song titles and artist names spoken in a specific language, you can change the designated VoiceOver language in iTunes. Just select one or more songs, choose Get Info from the File menu, and then select the VoiceOver language in the Options pane.

5 Stars Love my new iPod!
The iPod is a great size for clipping on to my gym clothes. It is very easy to use. Apple’s website walked me thru the steps and I was using the player immediately.
3 Stars Needs more work
There are definitely pluses and minuses to the new shuffle. As one who bought it day one here’s my assessment.
The control cord concept doesn’t work. The shuffle is an ipod designed for active people - people that move around. That makes the cord (and hence the controls) swish around and hard to locate to skip songs or modify the volume while you’re running or biking etc. The smallness has a great cool factor, but the control cord not practical.
Now Mr. Voice is a different story. He’s very helpful, although he needs to speak louder - more or less the same volume as the music, not some whisper. He needs to be sound proud that he knows the song, not like he’s sharing some secret. I also like Mr. Voice when he tells you how much battery is left, but it also needs work. The switch is too hard to move fast enough to get it to work easily. And one more thing - I plug my shuffle into the car radio when driving, but the new shuffle is useless for that since you can’t shuffle or adjust volume without the cord.
Add Mr. Voice and playlists to 2nd Gen and call it a day. Meanwhile I’m mostly using my old shuffles. Oh, and replace that funky dock that breaks easily on the 2nd gen with the new shorty you package with the new shuffle.
1 Star Don’t buy it!!
I liked it @ 1st.
I liked the size which is why I bought another shuffle.
Didn’t mind the headset controls although they could be annoying.
Was very happy with the size.
Problem was that headset broke in about 2 weeks!
With clicking that headset for all functions I don’t see how it would last that long.
My old iPod shuffle still works fine but I wanted the ability to create song lists for when I exercise.
I guess I’ll have to get a Nano now & deal with the size.
5 Stars Apple iPod shuffle 4 GB (3rd Generation)
Super little iPod shuffle - I listen to books while I walk/exercise and it’s perfect.
1 Star Pretty, but dumb design
Yes, it looks very, very pretty.
Annoyance #1: you can only use the provided (barely acceptable) Apple ear buds to control the device. Forget non-Apple buds or headphones as you won’t be able to control the volume or anything else.
Annoyance #2: beads of sweat roll down the Apple ear buds onto the control, rendering it useless quickly. Not good if you go running or go to the gym with this thing.
Annoyance #3: has a detectable background hiss.
Annoyance #4: the older 2nd Gen Shuffle sorted songs alphabetically by artist, this one sorts alphabetically by song title. No more listening to all your Kings of Leon or Beatles songs unless you’ve created a playlist.
Summary: don’t buy this if a) you plan to exercise, or b) you don’t want to exercise but listen to the iPod using decent (non-Apple) buds or headphones. Don’t buy it if you want a really functional and flexible iPod. Buy it if you just want to impress your friends with a cool-looking device. Apple missed the target with this one.

5 Stars Great Case!
I love this case. It is well padded, has a nice look. The magnetic closure is solid. The belt clip is sturdy. Good value.
5 Stars Great Protection & Quality…
I use this case with my 160 GB Classic iPod; the form and fit is secure and snug. I feel like the unit is well protected. The case has a solid look and feel and matches well with my other personal and business accessories. Access to the jacks for headphones and docking are available when it’s closed (magnetic closure makes for a seamless fit and sleeker profile — no bulk is added). It has proven durable (it goes back/forth from home office to the car) and protects the unit well from scratches and muffs.
2 Stars A contrary point of view
Very attractive and functioned well–until it was yanked (my headphones got snagged) and then the fabric around the clip ripped, rendering it useless. The yank in question was not all that forceful.
4 Stars Good buy and value
Excellent case easy to use and perfect fit. Great to have something that does not scratch the IPOD like so many of the hard cover protectors.
5 Stars great ipod case!
Gave my 19yr old son a new IPod and this case for his birthday… he thinks it looks cool (which is REALLY important at that age!
, protects his IPod, and yet it’s still easy to use his IPod, which can sometimes be an issue with cases… he says he would definitely buy it again…

5 Stars DLO HipCase Leather Folio Case for iPod touch 1G and 2G (Black)
This has been a perfect cover for my iPod touch. It is easy to access the iPod, yet gives it perfect protection in my purse. I highly recommend this cover.
5 Stars Great Case
The DLO HipCase Folio Case fits the 16GB 2nd generation ipod touch like a glove and looks good as well as being functional. The description of the product was accurate and one of the main reasons I purchased the product. If you are looking for a case to protect your ipod Touch then look no further.
4 Stars Great
Some reviews here said it does not work for the second gen touch. I’m not sure what they’re talking about, because mine came with a slot that perfectly fit the volume controls. My only very MINOR complaint is that the magnets are kind of weak and won’t give you a very good hold. Besides that, great product. Wear it on my belt all the time.
1 Star Wrong product received and BAD customer service from seller
I ordered two of these DLO HipCase Leather Folio cases along with my purchase of two 2nd gen iPod Touches for my sons, ages 10 and 8, all in the same order. The packaging for both was identical. But guess what? About 5 weeks after my sons have been using them, I find out from my younger son that his folio doesn’t allow him to adjust volume without removing the iTouch from the case!
Turns out the two pieces I ordered were NOT identical: one had the openings in the proper top-left side (designed for the 2nd gen), allowing for volume adjustment with the iTouch holstered, while the other didn’t! When I contacted eek Technology, they told me that since I’m bringing this to their attention after my 30 days are up, they cannot help me out in any way. I was stuck with one working and one folio/case that is a pain in the neck to use.
I contacted DLO, and they said the problem was that:
(a) either I made a mistake while ordering and ordered one for the 1st gen and for the 2nd gen (I didn’t: I simply checked the quantities I wanted to receive during checkout), or
(b) with the seller, eek Technology: they probably had old stock on hand and shipped me one for the 2nd gen and one for the 1st gen. It isn’t a defect with the case, per se.
Clearly, it is (b) above.
Beware of this seller - their customer service is terrible. I’m not as upset about losing out on $17 that I paid for this product as I am about the fact that eek Technology won’t admit their shipping mistake and are simply trying to hide behind their standard “…our return policy is…” spiel. I will never buy from this seller (eek Technology) again.
I would recommend you study your order and check it immediately and thoroughly upon receipt - or you could face this problem, too. Others have been similarly duped with this purchase - read all other 1 and 2 star reviews carefully before purchasing this.
Lastly, the product description online as well as in my emailed receipt read “2 of DLO HipCase Leather Folio Case for iPod Touch 1G and 2G (Black)”, making it sound like the same one will fit both the 1G and 2G. How was I to know one will be correct and one won’t in the shipment I will receive? The design for the 1 Gen and 2nd Gen are NOT the same. BE CAREFUL! This is my first-ever negative shopping experience at Amazon.com since the 90’s.
5 Stars High quality soft leather case. Very Satisfied.
Excellent case for the iPod Touch. Fits in perfectly with all controls easily accessible (volume controls, power button, stero jack, USB connector) without having to take out the iPod Touch. The flap protects the screen and has magnets inside to keep it closed. I highly recommend this leather case.
